The Panther Ausf. F was the planned final version of Germany's Panther, built around the new "Schmalturm" or narrow turret. This redesigned turret reduced the frontal target area, eliminated the shot-trap of the older rounded mantlet, and increased armour to 120mm at the front while remaining lighter and quicker to build, and it was to mount the 7.5cm KwK 44/1 L/70 gun with a stereoscopic rangefinder. The Schmalturm never reached series production: only prototype turrets were tested on Ausf. G hulls, and the handful of Ausf. F hulls completed in 1945 were fitted with standard turrets, making the true Ausf. F essentially a late-war design that never saw full service.
