The M3 Half-Track was the standard American armoured personnel carrier of the Second World War, combining a wheeled front axle with rear tracks for good cross-country mobility. The M3A1 introduced the M49 ring mount, an armoured "pulpit" above the co-driver's seat, for a .50 calibre Browning machine gun. Built in huge numbers, M3 series half-tracks served with US and Allied forces on every front and in countless roles.
