The Gloster Meteor was the first Allied jet fighter to enter operational service. It was powered by two Rolls-Royce Welland turbojets based on Frank Whittle’s pioneering designs. In July 1944, No. 616 Squadron RAF received the first Meteor F.1s, and they went straight into action against the V-1 flying bombs attacking southern England. On August 4, 1944, Flying Officer Dean scored the Meteor’s first kill. When his guns jammed, he flew alongside a V-1 and tipped it over with his wingtip. Another early F.1, EE210/G, was shipped to the United States for evaluation in exchange for a Bell YP-59A Airacomet. This Cyber Hobby kit from the Golden Wings Series includes markings for both aircraft and comes with two aftermarket upgrade sets made for this kit.
