The Vickers VC10 first flew in 1962 and was designed for hot-and-high airports on long-haul routes, with its four rear-mounted Conway engines giving it a clean wing and exceptional takeoff performance. The RAF took delivery of its C.1 transports in 1966, and in the early 1990s the fleet was converted to C.1K standard with underwing hose-and-drogue refuelling pods, letting the type serve as both transport and tanker until its retirement in 2013. Corgi's compact die-cast captures the C.1K in overall RAF grey.
