The Convair 990 was General Dynamics’ stretched, faster development of the 880. Its distinctive anti-shock bodies on the wing trailing edges helped make it one of the quickest airliners of the 1960s. Swissair ordered eight in 1962 and named them “Coronado”, a name that came to be used for the type in general. This B-Models release shows HB-ICB, delivered to Swissair in 1962 and flown in the airline’s classic red and white livery until it was retired in the early 1970s.
