The SPAD XIII was a French biplane fighter introduced in 1917 and one of the most successful Allied aircraft of the First World War. Powered by a Hispano-Suiza engine and armed with twin Vickers machine guns, it was flown by leading aces including Georges Guynemer and René Fonck, as well as American squadrons of the AEF. Over 8,400 were built, making it the most-produced French fighter of the war.
