After the war, Vickers converted surplus Spitfire Mk.IXs into two-seat trainers by adding a second, raised cockpit for the instructor behind the pilot. These T Mk.IX (Tr.9) aircraft went to India, the Netherlands and the Irish Air Corps. Several survive today, and Tr.9 warbirds have become famous for giving passengers the chance to fly in a Spitfire. This AZ Model kit includes four schemes from these modern two-seaters. One is MJ627 “9G-Q,” flown at Biggin Hill in 2016 by 93-year-old Czechoslovak WWII veteran General Emil Boček. Another is SM520 “KJ-I,” in which Prince Harry flew.
