AZM7568 - AZ Models - 1/72 Mustang Mk.III Dorsal Fin - WWHP113752
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Mustang Mk.III was the RAF’s name for the Packard Merlin-powered P-51B and P-51C, which reached squadrons from early 1944. With the Merlin engine, North American’s airframe went from a low-level reconnaissance aircraft to one of the finest long-range fighters of the war. RAF and Commonwealth units flew it escorting bombers, hunting V-1 flying bombs and attacking ground targets in Italy. Later aircraft got a dorsal fin fillet to improve directional stability. One of those units was No. 441 Squadron RCAF, which flew Mustang IIIs from Hawkinge in 1945 escorting Bomber Command’s daylight raids. This boxing includes one of 441’s natural metal aircraft.
