The Spitfire Tr.9 was a two seat conversion of the Mk IX, created after the war by moving the front cockpit forward and adding a raised rear instructor's position under a bulged canopy. Only a small number were built, and they found their way into Dutch, Irish and Indian service as well as civilian hands. AZ model's 1/72 kit covers three of the more colourful survivors, including the Royal Netherlands Air Force H-99, an Irish Air Corps machine from Gormanston, and the all orange PH-NFN flown by Schneider Aero Contractor as a target tug in 1957.
