The Sherman III was the British name for the M4A2, the diesel-powered Sherman with twin GM 6-71 engines. The US kept most of its diesel Shermans for training and the Marine Corps, so large numbers went to Britain and the Commonwealth under Lend-Lease. Sherman IIIs fought in North Africa, Italy and Northwest Europe. Mid production vehicles introduced the one-piece cast driver’s hood, which replaced the earlier welded hood and its vulnerable direct-vision ports. Asuka Model, formerly Tasca, is highly regarded among armour builders for the accuracy of its Sherman kits.
