The Spitfire's split flaps sat almost flush when raised, so most kits mould them closed and leave you with a wing that looks like it has never been flown. Dropping them is the quickest way to make a parked Spitfire read as a working aeroplane, and at 1/72 brass is the only material thin enough to look right.
