The Al Abbas was an Iraqi-developed extended-range variant of the Soviet R-17 Scud-B ballistic missile, modified during the Iran-Iraq War by reducing the warhead weight and increasing fuel capacity to achieve a range of approximately 900 kilometres. Carried on the MAZ-543 eight-wheeled transporter-erector-launcher, Al Abbas missiles were used during the 1991 Gulf War in strikes against Israeli and Saudi Arabian targets. ARII's 1/48 "Remade" release represents the complete system with the MAZ-543 TEL and erected missile in Iraqi service markings.
