Description
AOS215-200 - Aoshima 1/72 Kingcobra Bell P-63A (No.15) - WWWEB10114458
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Bell P-63 Kingcobra resembled the P-39 but was an entirely new design, built around a laminar-flow wing and retaining the 37mm cannon firing through the propeller hub. Around two-thirds of production went to the Soviet Union under Lend-Lease, where the cannon proved effective against ground targets, while US examples served mainly as trainers and manned gunnery targets.
This is the 1970s Aoshima "Detailed Aero Series" boxing of their late-1960s tooling, made in Japan. For years it was the only injection-molded P-63 available in 1/72, making it a notable collector's subject.
Box contents:
- Parts molded in plastic with riveted surface detail and clear canopy
- Working features typical of the era, including retractable landing gear
- Waterslide decals for USAAF P-63A 269402 in natural metal finish, as depicted in the box art
- Assembly instructions
