Description
AOS206-200 - Aoshima 1/72 Seiran Japan Navy M6A1 - PREOWNED119173
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Aichi M6A1 Seiran was a submarine-launched attack floatplane, designed to be catapulted from the giant I-400 class submarines with wings and floats folded for stowage in their hangar tubes. The planned strike against the Panama Canal locks was never carried out, and the Sen Toku boats surrendered with their Seirans before any operational mission was flown. It remains one of the most unusual aircraft concepts of the war, with the sole survivor preserved at the Smithsonian.
This is the 1970s Aoshima "Detailed Aero Series" boxing of their 1960s tooling, made in Japan. As with the rest of the series, it was for many years the only injection-molded option for the subject in 1/72 and remains a sought-after collector's piece.
Box contents:
- Parts molded in plastic with clear canopy
- Floats and underfuselage torpedo as shown in the box art
- Waterslide decals for IJN markings
- Assembly instructions
