Description
AMT8716 - AMT 1/25 1962 Chevy Bel Air 409 (Discontinued) - WWHP113771
Preowned, Original seal, Mint
The Chevrolet 409 was one of the original big-block muscle engines. It arrived in 1961, and for 1962 a dual four-barrel version made a full 409 horsepower, one horsepower for every cubic inch. The Beach Boys made it famous that year with their hit “409,” and drag racers such as “Dyno Don” Nicholson and Hayden Proffitt took 409 Chevys to wins at the strip. In 1962 the Bel Air two-door hardtop kept the airy “bubble top” roofline that Chevrolet had dropped from the Impala. Paired with the lighter Bel Air body, the 409 made one of the quickest full-size cars of its day, with 0 to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds and the quarter mile in 15.4.
