The 1941 Plymouth was the last full model year before Chrysler's low-priced division turned its lines over to war work, and its Deluxe and Special Deluxe coupes carried a wide, low grille and heavily skirted fenders that made them some of the best-proportioned cars of the prewar era. Under the hood sat the 201 cubic inch flathead six, a durable and unfussy engine that helped the marque build its reputation on value rather than flash. Those same body lines made the '41 coupe a favourite starting point for postwar rodders and customizers, which is why AMT's tooling has stayed in demand since its first release in the 1970s.
