Chevrolet's compact Chevy II arrived for 1962 as a light, boxy economy car, but hot rodders quickly discovered that its small size and low weight made it a perfect home for serious horsepower. By the late 1960s and early 1970s the Chevy II had become a favourite of the street machine and gasser crowd, stuffed with Chevy's big-block "rat motor", jacked up at the front and fitted with altered wheelbases to plant the power at the drag strip. AMT's Street Freaks "Rat Packer" captures that wild era of high 'n' mighty street racers, reissued from the classic AMT tooling in its original-style yellow box.
