The Mercury Comet Caliente was the top trim of the 1964 Comet line, adding a more upscale interior with touches like a walnut-finish dashboard. In the fall of 1963, Mercury proved the car's toughness by running five Calientes with solid-lifter 289 V8s for 100,000 miles over 40 days and nights at Daytona, averaging around 105mph with only one mechanical failure. Round 2 reissued AMT's original Craftsman Plus curbside kit in 2023 with all-new decals.
