Richard Petty, “The King,” is stock car racing’s most successful driver, with 200 NASCAR Cup wins, seven Daytona 500 victories and seven championships, all in his famous “Petty blue” #43. In the 1970s, Chrysler’s “Kit Car” program let short-track racers buy a complete package of parts to build their own Mopar late-model sportsman racer. Petty Enterprises helped develop the cars, and this Dodge Dart is the Kit Car in Petty’s colours. The set pairs the Dart with a Ford LN 8000 slant-bed transporter in matching Petty blue, the kind of hauler that carried race cars to short tracks across North America.

• Two complete 1/25 kits: a Ford LN 8000 slant-bed race car transporter with loading ramps, and a Richard Petty Dodge Dart Kit Car late-model sportsman
• Dart has about 100 parts, including a Mopar 355 cu. in. small-block V8 with Edelbrock high-rise intake, Holley four-barrel carb and Gebler headers
• Removable hood and deck lid, Grand National-style roll cage, ATL fuel cell, four-wheel disc brakes and a three-speed with Hurst shifter
• Ten one-piece hollow vinyl tires, including Goodyear “Blue Streak” racing tires
• New and expanded decal sheet with #43 numbers, STP, Goodyear and sponsor markings for both the car and the hauler
• Separate instruction sheets for the transporter and the Dart
