The JS-3 was the Soviet Union's answer to the heaviest German armour of the late war period — heavily sloped hull, distinctive pike nose, and a 122mm gun capable of defeating virtually anything it encountered. It appeared too late to see action in Europe but caused considerable alarm when it rolled through Berlin's victory parade in 1945, prompting a rapid reassessment of Western tank design.

Airfix's kit of the type, issued here under North American market numbering. Note for buyers: the box states series number M2-90, though this kit is catalogued online and in most references as M2-50. The box also states 1/72 scale, however this kit is generally accepted to scale out at 1/76 — a common discrepancy with Airfix armour kits of this era, tooled to their own "constant scale" standard.
