The StuG III was the most-produced German armoured fighting vehicle of WWII — a turreted Panzer III chassis fitted with a low-profile superstructure and a 75mm gun, originally designed for infantry support but increasingly used as a tank destroyer as the war progressed. Over 10,000 were built across multiple variants.

Airfix's kit issued here under North American market numbering. Note for buyers: the box states series number M1-90, though this kit is catalogued online and in most references as M1-49. The box also states 1/72 scale, however this kit is generally accepted to scale out at 1/76 — a common discrepancy with Airfix armour kits of this era, tooled to their own "constant scale" standard.
