The Aston Martin DB5 was launched in 1963 as a development of the DB4. It was powered by a new 4.0-litre straight-six producing 282 hp, enough for a top speed of nearly 150 mph. Its Superleggera body was built using Carrozzeria Touring’s lightweight construction method, with hand-formed aluminum panels over a tubular frame. That gave the DB5 its elegant lines and made it one of the most beautiful grand tourers of the 1960s. The DB5 became world famous in 1964 as James Bond’s car in Goldfinger, and it remains one of the most recognizable cars ever built. Only about 1,000 DB5s were produced, between 1963 and 1965. This Airfix kit builds the classic silver DB5 in 1/32 scale with its wire wheels and SXN 565 registration.
