AIRA14002V - Airfix 1/24 Hawker Hurricane Mk.1 - WWHP113493
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
At the start of the Battle of Britain the RAF had more Hurricanes than Spitfires, and Fighter Command's average strength through the summer of 1940 was around 1,326 of them against 957 Spitfires. The steel tube and fabric construction was old fashioned next to the Spitfire's stressed skin, but it was a steady gun platform, absorbed damage well and could be patched up overnight. This is Airfix's 1970s 1/24 Super Kit tooling, reissued in the Vintage Classics range.
- 1/24 scale injection moulded plastic kit, Vintage Classics reissue of the Airfix Super Kit tooling
- Light grey styrene frames plus a clear frame, and black rubber tires
- Merlin engine with removable cowling panels, wing gun bays and a detailed tubular cockpit
- Raised panel line detail and fabric texture on the rear fuselage
- Decals for two Battle of Britain aircraft: P2798 / LK-A flown by Flt Lt Ian "Widge" Gleed, No. 87 Squadron, and P3854 / VY-Q flown by Sqn Ldr Peter Townsend, No. 85 Squadron
- Multilingual instruction booklet with painting and marking guide
- Finished model measures roughly 508 mm span and 398 mm length
