The Wellington was Britain's most capable bomber at the outbreak of war, and its geodetic airframe gave it a reputation for absorbing damage that should have brought it down. The GR Mk VIII took the type to Coastal Command, fitted with ASV radar and, on some aircraft, the Leigh Light searchlight for illuminating surfaced U-boats at night. Long maritime patrols in the reconnaissance, anti-submarine and anti-shipping roles made it a key weapon in keeping the Atlantic sea lanes open. This is Airfix's 2019 release, adding new parts to its 2018 Wellington tooling.
