The Douglas DC-3 revolutionised air travel after its first flight in 1935, and its military C-47 derivative, known in RAF service as the Dakota, became one of the most important Allied aircraft of the Second World War. After the war, surplus Dakotas launched countless airlines, including Dan-Air Services, whose very first aircraft in 1953 was Dakota G-AMSU. Airfix's modern 1/72 tooling captures both the airliner's post-war civil career and its wartime service with BOAC, with a finished wingspan of 400 mm.
