Description
AIRA05039 - Airfix 1/72 English Electric Canberra PR.9 - WWWEB10115890
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The English Electric Canberra PR.9 was the definitive photographic reconnaissance variant of the Canberra family, featuring an extended wingspan, uprated Rolls-Royce Avon 206 engines, and an offset fighter-style cockpit giving the navigator an improved forward view for operating the cameras. Entering RAF service in 1960, the PR.9 remained operational with No. 39 Squadron until 2006, making it one of the longest-serving aircraft in RAF history. Chile also operated the type, acquiring surplus RAF airframes for continued photographic reconnaissance duties into the 1980s.
