Description
AIRA04176 - Airfix - 1/144 De Havilland Comet 4B - WWWEB10106991
Preowned, Original seal, mint
The de Havilland Comet was the world's first jet airliner, entering commercial service in 1952 and offering passengers a level of speed and smoothness no piston airliner could match. Early structural failures grounded the type and forced a complete redesign, but the concept was sound and the jet age had arrived for good. The Comet 4B was the short to medium haul variant, with a stretched fuselage seating up to 86 passengers and shortened wings without the outer pinion tanks. It entered service with BEA in April 1960 and also flew with Olympic Airways, working the busy European trunk routes through the 1960s and into the 1970s.
