The Bristol Beaufighter TF.X was the Coastal Command torpedo strike variant of Bristol's twin Hercules heavy fighter, developed from the earlier Beaufort. Armed with four 20 mm cannon and carrying either an 18 inch torpedo or eight 60 lb rocket projectiles, the type ranged against Axis shipping at low level and high speed, earning the nickname Torbeau in RAF service. Beaufighters remained in use into the early 1950s.
