Description

AIRA02339 - Airfix - 1/72 British Airborne Jeep w/ 75mm Howitzer & Trailer WWHP121000

Preowned, Resealed, Mint

The Willys MB jeep gave British airborne forces the only motor transport light enough to be flown in by Horsa glider, and paired with a 10cwt trailer it kept the lightly equipped parachute and glider battalions supplied once they were on the ground. Its usual load was the 75mm Pack Howitzer M1, an American design adopted for airborne use because it could be broken down into parachute loads and reassembled by its crew. Both were in action with 6th Airborne Division in Normandy in June 1944 and remained standard airborne equipment through to the Rhine crossing.
