Description

AIRA02108 - Airfix 1/72 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vc - WWHP113753

Preowned, Resealed, Mint

The Spitfire Mk.V was the most numerous Spitfire variant, with over 6,000 built. It paired the airframe with the more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 and served on every front from 1941. The Mk.Vc introduced the “universal” C wing, which could carry either four 20 mm cannon or two cannon and four .303 machine guns. Fitted with the bulky Vokes tropical air filter under the nose, Mk.Vs fought over the deserts of North Africa and Malta. RCAF fighter squadrons such as 401 and 402 also flew Spitfire Vs over the Channel and occupied Europe. American units flew them too: the USAAF’s 31st and 52nd Fighter Groups used Spitfires in North Africa before converting to Mustangs.

  • Light grey plastic sprues with a detailed cockpit, the tropical filter and the universal wing, plus a clear canopy
  • Decal sheet with two marking options:
    • MX-P, ER180 with the sharkmouth nose art and USAAF stars, 307th Fighter Squadron, 31st Fighter Group, North Africa
    • DB-V, JL115, No. 2 Squadron South African Air Force
  • Instructions with history, specifications and painting guide
  • Completed model measures 131 mm long with a 157 mm wingspan
