The Angel Interceptor is one of the most recognisable machines from Gerry Anderson's 1967 Supermarionation series Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. Three of them sat on the launch catapults of Spectrum's flying headquarters, Cloudbase, flown by the all female Angel pilots and scrambled whenever the Mysterons threatened. The design was the work of Derek Meddings and his effects team, a compact single seat interceptor with a delta wing, prominent chin intake and a top speed given in the series as 3,000 mph. Airfix first released this kit during the show's original run, and it has remained one of the best loved Anderson subjects in plastic.
