Description

AIRA01033V - Airfix 1/72 Hawker P.1127 Vintage Classics - WWHP113289

Preowned, Original seal, Mint

The Hawker P.1127 was the aircraft that proved vertical and short take off flight could work in a practical jet fighter. Development began in 1957 around the Bristol Pegasus and its four rotating nozzles, and by the end of 1960 the first prototype XP831 had achieved both vertical take off and landing and the crucial transition to conventional wing borne flight. Six prototypes flew from Dunsfold, feeding into the Kestrel evaluation aircraft and ultimately the Hawker Siddeley Harrier. Airfix tooled this kit in 1963, while the programme was still very much news, and it returns here in the Vintage Classics range with the original Roy Cross artwork.
