Description
AIR588 - Airfix 1/72 Junkers Ju.52 - WWHP111604
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn
The Junkers Ju 52/3m was the Luftwaffe's principal transport and paratroop aircraft throughout the Second World War, known affectionately as Tante Ju ("Auntie Ju") and Eiserne Annie ("Iron Annie") for its distinctive corrugated metal skin. Powered by three BMW 132 radials, it served in every major German airborne operation from the invasion of Norway to the assault on Crete in May 1941, where the type suffered catastrophic losses to Allied ground fire. It had previously served in the Spanish Civil War, both as a bomber and transport. The type first flew in 1930 and remained in production and operation for decades. Airfix first tooled this kit in 1964; at 111 parts it was one of the company's larger efforts of the period, with a finished wingspan of approximately 406 mm. Box art by Roy Cross.
