AIR586 - Airfix 1/72 B-24 J Liberator - WWHP111603\
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was the most produced American military aircraft of the Second World War, with over 18,000 built — more than any other US warplane. Powered by four Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp radials, the B-24J was the principal production variant, incorporating a nose turret and Consolidated tail turret as standard. Its distinctive Davis high-aspect-ratio wing gave it exceptional range, making it the primary choice for long-distance theatres including the Pacific, the China-Burma-India theatre, and anti-submarine operations in the Atlantic. The B-24J served alongside the B-17 in the 8th Air Force's European bombing campaign, including the famous low-level attack on the Ploieşti oil refineries in August 1943. Airfix first tooled this kit in 1963 — one of the largest and most complex kits the company had produced at that time.
