Description
AIR50113 - Airfix - 1/72 Westland Sea King HAR.5 - WWHP113320
Preowned, Original seal, Mint
The Sea King is one of the most successful helicopters ever built, developed by Sikorsky as the S-61 and licence-built by Westland with Rolls-Royce Gnome engines. The Royal Navy took it into service as the HAS Mk.1 anti-submarine helicopter, and in 1988, needing a replacement for the Wessex in the search and rescue role, simply stripped the anti-submarine equipment out of the HAS Mk.5 while keeping the Sea Searcher radar. The result was the HAR.5, an excellent SAR platform that worked over water and across the mountains of Scotland and Wales, winching casualties to safety around the clock. This is Airfix's 1/72 gift set boxing with markings for a No. 771 Naval Air Squadron aircraft.
