Description

AIR03042 - Airfix 1/72 Kamov Hormone KA-25A/C - WWWEB10110818

Preowned, Resealed, Mint

The Kamov Ka-25 (NATO: "Hormone") was the Soviet Navy's primary shipborne helicopter from the mid-1960s through the 1980s, operated from cruisers and guided missile destroyers of the Kresta, Kara, and Moskva classes. The type used Kamov's distinctive co-axial contra-rotating rotor configuration — eliminating the need for a tail rotor and minimising the helicopter's footprint on cramped warship decks. The Ka-25A (Hormone-A) was the main anti-submarine warfare variant, equipped with search radar, dipping sonar, and torpedo or depth charge armament; the Ka-25C (Hormone-C) was a dedicated search and rescue and utility transport variant. Yugoslavia was the only export operator, operating the Ka-25A. Airfix first tooled this kit in 1983; the 03042 is the 1986 rebox.

Box Contents:

  • Injection-moulded plastic sprues, moulded in light grey
  • Clear sprue (cockpit and cabin glazing)
  • Co-axial rotor assembly — upper and lower rotor heads
  • Anti-submarine search radar
  • Opening main cabin door option
  • Waterslide decal sheet — 2 marking options:
    • Ka-25A (Hormone-A) — Yugoslav Air Force, overall grey, "306"
    • Ka-25C (Hormone-C) — Soviet Navy SAR/transport, white overall with red engine cowlings, "54" (box art scheme)
  • Instruction sheet (black and white)
