Description
AIR03016-4 - Airfix 1/72 L.T. Vought A-7A D Corsair II - WWHP111607
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Vought A-7 Corsair II entered USN service in 1967 as a subsonic carrier-based light attack aircraft, replacing the A-4 Skyhawk in the precision bombing role. It flew extensively in Vietnam, where its advanced navigation and weapons delivery system gave it accuracy well beyond its predecessors. The USAF adopted a modified version — the A-7D — with a more powerful engine and M61 Vulcan cannon, deploying it in Southeast Asia from 1972. The A-7D/E served through the Cold War and into the Gulf War, with the type also exported to Greece and Portugal. Airfix first tooled this kit in 1971; the 03016-4 is the 1975 rebox, and was considered one of the best 1/72 A-7 kits available for its era.
