AIR02099 - Airfix 1/72 Commonwealth CA-13 Boomerang - WWHP111376
Preowned, Original seal, Mint
The CA-13 Boomerang is one of the more unlikely success stories of the Second World War. Rushed into production in Australia in 1942 — the first example completed just sixteen weeks after the design was approved — it was built largely from components already in use on other aircraft, a pragmatic response to the threat of Japanese air power cutting off Allied supply lines. It was never the fastest fighter in the sky, but it excelled at low altitude and spent most of its service life in the close support role, directing Corsair strikes across New Guinea and Borneo. The "Smoky Joe" nickname came from the coloured smoke markers it dropped to guide those attacks.
The kit builds to a 10.7 cm fuselage with a 15.2 cm wingspan across 31 parts. Decal sheet and markings guide included. Paints and glue sold separately.
