Description
AIR02098 - Airfix - 1/72 N.A.P51 D/K Mustang - WWHP113324
Preowned, Original seal, Box worn
Regarded by many as the finest single-seat piston-engined fighter of the Second World War, the North American Mustang was designed in 1940 to a British specification, with the prototype built in the astonishing span of 117 days. Development through the A, B, and C series led to the much refined D with a Packard-built Merlin of 1,450 hp, a teardrop canopy, and performance second to none: 437 mph at 25,000 feet, a ceiling of 41,900 feet, and 650 miles of range on two 75 gallon drop tanks. Famous as a long-range bomber escort in Europe, the Mustang was equally at home over the Pacific. This Airfix 1/72 kit covers Swedish and RAF postwar aircraft rather than the usual USAAF schemes.
