Description
AIR02082 - Airfix 1/72 Hawker Hurricane Mk1 - WWWEB10110846
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Hawker Hurricane was the RAF's most numerous fighter during the Battle of Britain in 1940, accounting for the majority of German aircraft destroyed throughout the campaign. Though overshadowed in popular memory by the Spitfire, the Hurricane was the more stable gun platform and bore the brunt of the fighting against Luftwaffe bombers. The Mk.I was the definitive early variant, armed with eight .303-inch Browning machine guns in fabric-covered wings.
Squadron Leader Robert Roland Stanford Tuck was one of the RAF's leading aces of 1940, flying with No. 257 Squadron from RAF Northolt. He scored multiple kills during the Battle of Britain and eventually reached 27 confirmed victories before being shot down and taken prisoner in 1942.
