Description
AIR02064 - Airfix 1/72 Westland Whirlwind Mk1 - WWWEB10113132
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn
The Westland Whirlwind was the RAF's first single-seat, twin-engined cannon fighter, concentrating four 20mm Hispanos in the nose. Hampered by its troubled Rolls-Royce Peregrine engines, it equipped only Nos. 263 and 137 Squadrons, serving on cross-Channel fighter-bomber sweeps until 1943. Box markings depict P7102 SF-P of 137 Squadron at Matlaske, June 1942, a presentation aircraft donated by Mr. & Mrs. Ellis of Fiji.
This is the 1977 Airfix new tooling (replacing the 1950s original) in the Series 2 green-band box with "NEW" starburst, made in England.
Box contents:
- Parts molded in light grey plastic, plus clear canopy
- Waterslide decals for two RAF schemes: 137 Squadron (P7102, 1942) and 263 Squadron (1940)
- Assembly instructions with painting guide
