Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn, Major decal damage (Please view photos)
The Westland Lysander first flew in 1936 as an army co-operation aircraft. It was famous for its short take-off and landing ability, thanks to automatic slats and flaps along its high, braced wing. Lysanders flew reconnaissance and artillery spotting with the British Expeditionary Force in France in 1939 and 1940, then went on to air-sea rescue work. They became legendary as the Special Duties “spy plane,” landing secret agents in and out of occupied France by moonlight with a long-range tank and a side boarding ladder. The Lysander has strong Toronto roots too. National Steel Car built more than 200 of them under licence at Malton, and in 1940 the RCAF’s No. 110 Squadron took its Lysanders overseas as one of the first Canadian units to reach Britain.
