The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I was R.J. Mitchell's elliptical-wing fighter, powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin and armed with eight .303 Browning machine guns in the wings. It entered RAF service in 1938 and, alongside the Hurricane, carried the defence of Britain through the summer of 1940. This kit represents N3277 of 234 Squadron at RAF Middle Wallop in August 1940.
