Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Fiat G.91 won NATO’s 1957 competition for a lightweight tactical strike fighter. It was designed to be cheap to buy and run and to operate from grass or rough airstrips. The G.91R reconnaissance version kept the fighter’s handling but had a new nose holding three 70 mm cameras, facing forward, down and to the side. It served with the Italian Air Force, and Dornier built G.91s under licence for the Luftwaffe. Former German aircraft later went to the Portuguese Air Force, which flew them in combat in Africa. The G.91 was also the first jet flown by the Frecce Tricolori, the Italian Air Force aerobatic team. This Airfix kit is made in France from the Heller mould and builds an Italian Air Force G.91R.
