The Messerschmitt Bf109E, known as the "Emil," was the primary Luftwaffe fighter during the Battle of Britain and the North African campaign, and one of the most produced aircraft of the Second World War. The E-4 and E-7 sub-variants introduced an improved MG FF/M cannon installation and, in the case of the E-7, a drop tank fitting that significantly extended operational range, a critical capability for escort missions over England and operations in the Western Desert. The Chinese subtitle on the box (沙漠之狐, "Desert Fox") references the aircraft's North African theatre service under Rommel's Afrika Korps.
