AFVAF35176 - AFV Club 1/35 Churchill Mk.III Dieppe Raid - WWHP113746
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Churchill infantry tank first saw combat on 19 August 1942 during Operation Jubilee, the Allied raid on Dieppe. The Calgary Regiment (14th Army Tank Regiment) landed its Churchills on the steep shingle beach alongside the 2nd Canadian Division. Many tanks lost their tracks in the loose stones or were stopped by the sea wall and anti-tank obstacles. None of the tanks that landed came back to England, and the raid cost Canada more than 900 killed and nearly 2,000 taken prisoner. The Mk III, armed with the 6-pounder gun in a welded turret, made up much of the regiment’s strength. It wore the deep wading exhaust and air intake trunking fitted for the landing, as this kit shows.
- Olive drab plastic sprues with full hull, welded turret and running gear
- Deep wading air intakes and exhausts, with a quick release cable system
- Turned metal gun barrel with rifling
- Suspension with metal coil springs
- Mudguards split the same way as on the real vehicle
- Three types of rivets for the side armour plates
- Clear sprue for the vision blocks
- Photo-etched detail parts
- Decal sheet with Calgary Regiment markings, including tactical numbers in blue circles and squares, red squadron squares and other unit markings
- Instruction booklet with painting and marking guide, plus a box art print
