Description
ACA1699 - Academy - 1/360 TU-144 Supersonic Transport - WWHP111349
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Tupolev Tu-144 beat Concorde into the air by two months, flying on the last day of 1968, and became the first airliner to break the sound barrier. It also became notorious after the 1973 Paris Air Show crash, and passenger service lasted barely six months before being cut back to mail and freight. The retractable canard foreplanes behind the cockpit are the giveaway feature, deployed at low speed to help the delta wing behave on approach.
Small display scale, so this builds up quickly.
In the box
- White styrene sprues with fuselage halves, delta wing and tail
- Four engine intakes and exhausts
- Canard foreplanes
- Drooped nose section
- Undercarriage and display stand
- Waterslide decal sheet with Aeroflot titles, cheatline and registration
