The Kamov Ka-52 "Alligator" is a Russian all-weather attack helicopter developed from the single-seat Ka-50, distinguished by its side-by-side two-seat cockpit and Kamov's signature coaxial contra-rotating rotor system. First flown in 1997 and entering service in the 2010s, it serves as a scout and command variant capable of directing other aircraft while carrying its own guns, rockets, and guided missiles. The coaxial layout gives it exceptional agility and eliminates the need for a tail rotor.
