British Standard BS 381C:241 Dark Green — primary RAF and British Army camouflage green, approx. 1938–present. Used in WWII RAF Day Fighter Scheme and later NATO schemes. Applied to: Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I, Mk.II, Mk.V, Mk.IX, Mk.XIV; Hawker Hurricane Mk.I/II; Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB; Hawker Tempest Mk.V; Avro Lancaster B.I/III; Handley Page Halifax B.I–III; de Havilland Mosquito B.IV/FB.VI; Bristol Beaufighter; Gloster Gladiator (late schemes); postwar Hawker Hunter F.1–F.6; English Electric Canberra; SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1/GR.3; Panavia Tornado GR.1/GR.4 (wraparound camo). Weathering & modulation: Highlight with VLJ70968 Flat Green lightened with VLJ70951 White. Exhaust staining with VLJ70980 Black thinned to near-transparency.
Scale colour note: At 1:72 lighten Dark Green 20%. Maintain contrast with Dark Earth.
Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
