Vallejo Model Air — USN Sea Blue
Subject: Aircraft
US Navy Sea Blue (ANA 623 Glossy Sea Blue; approx. FS 15042) — overall late-war and postwar naval aviation color, approx. 1944–1950s (extended in some roles). Applied to: F6F-5 Hellcat (late), F4U-1D/4 Corsair, SB2C-4/5 Helldiver, TBM Avenger (late), F8F Bearcat, F7F Tigercat; early jets including F9F Panther (initial schemes). Replaced tri-color camouflage with overall finish. Used in late Pacific War operations (Philippines 1944–45, Okinawa 1945) and early postwar naval aviation.
Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
